Shanghai Ocean Aquarium

Shanghai Ocean Aquarium is located at 1388 Lujiazui Ring Road, Pudong New District, Shanghai, China, next to the Oriental Pearl Tower, with a construction area of 20,500 square meters. Opened to the public in February 2002. It receives an average of more than 1 million tourists from all over the world each year. It has been awarded the title of "Science Education Base" by the country and Shanghai. It is also one of the largest artificial seawater aquariums in the world.

 

Shanghai Ocean Aquarium is a modern large-scale aquarium with world-class standards. "Crossing five continents through the world of water" is the theme. There are 28 large-scale theme biological exhibition areas in the aquarium, which are divided into eight exhibition areas of Asia, South America (Amazon), Australia, Africa, cold water, polar regions, sea water and the depths of the oceans, exhibiting more than 300 species from five continents and four oceans, more than 10,000 rare fishes and endangered rare creatures. The most distinctive ones are poison dart frog, jellyfish, sunfish, leafy sea dragon, emperor penguin and albino barramundi.
